B. B. King passed away a few days ago, in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas. He was 89.
Growing up in the 50s and 60s, my introduction to Mr. King was oblique — through the so-called British Invasion of rock bands with strong roots in the blues. When I found out B. B. King was the inspiration of many of them, I began to pay attention myself.
