HAITI

Rebuilding from the ground up.

The devastating earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010 killed more than 220,000 people and affected millions more. During my visit to the village of Thomás, Haiti with the United Methodist Church, documenting in a short film called Defy Gravity their efforts to feed the children of Thomás, and to improve the school there, I was deeply affected by not only the suffering but by the strength and determination of the the people there. There to work for the UMC, I had no time for personal work. But I plan to go back to Haiti soon to tell the stories of several people deeply affected by the earthquake so the rest of the world doesn't forget about them — even though they're not in the daily news cycle.
